Mnemosyne, Muse of Memory

Well, I arrived for the play-off game early to see how everything was set up. The track was smoothed out, the bleachers were erected, the port-o-johns were set up, the twin concession stands were set up and there were more police that at a cop convention. We even had two mounted police.

The spectators came in and filed to their respective sides. Things were working out OK until the boys came out to play. Our team just quit. They were afraid of the Glen Rock team. They had never defeated them in a play-off game before and today was not about to change the record.

The only sad part about the game was the disappointing results. We lost 22-7. The weather was good, however. The wind died down enough to be a slight factor and the sun was not impeded by a single puff of cloud anywhere. By the fourth quarter I couldn't wait for it to be over. We watched as everyone filed out, then the Athletic Director came over to us in a furious mood. the other team couldn't even shake hands with our team eventhough they beat us. That was it! The only emotional part of the day. Well, we have something to talk about besides the score for a year.

I hope we don't have to go through this next year.
