Romeo and Juliett
Yes, romance or insanity reigns, depending on your outlook. An hispanic girl lived in my school district and dominated the school while she was here. It wasn't a positive aura she had but an evil one. Everywhere she went there was caos. She would not, could not stay in a classroom for more than a few minutes. she would go to the nurse, the water fountain, the bathroom, the guidance counselor, the office to call home, the pay phone to call someone; she was allergic to the academic environment. The parents poo pooed this behavior and said she was always like this; a very socialble person. We said it was much more, but they didn't want to hear about it because they got seven hours of peace while she was in school.
An Irish boy named Sean Cullen also loved to stay out of the classrooms he was assigned to. He took the same routes that Stephanie Mendoza took, sol it was no surprise to anyone in the school that the two of them found something in common. They were an item. For awhile peace reigned in the school. Then Stephanie got into so much trouble that her parents decided to go back to Florida. the fact that they weren't making it financially in NJ had something to do with the decision, but having to leave work to get Stepanie out of another traumatic emotional experience almost every day really forced the decision. They left but not before Sean procalimed that he would rescue Stephanie from her parents in Florida just as soon as he could.
We thought this was a lot of hooey until he took off in a car with some cash and drove to Florida and took Stephanie from her home and drove back to Atlantic City with her. The tow of them were arrested there and Sean was charged with kidnapping and Stephanie was put in an institution by her parents. All this because two kids under age decided that they found a sould mate that likes to shirk responsibility and run away from life. They now have dropped out of school, are facing prosecution, and a dismal life. The few days of freedom will have to suffice for the rest of their lives; they can savor those times while in prison, on parole, in a minimum wage job for the rest of their lives. Isn't it romantic?
