I"'ll forget and not believe they happenned" days
Fist it was my VP that admitted to hanging up on a psychotic father whose wife is on the board. That started Thursday. I spent a few hours on the phone listening to this guy go off on Al. I finally pursuaded him to come in to pick up his son after detention at 5:00 P. M. I told Al we would both meet him. He brought his 6 year old daughter and I realized then who ran the family.
"Daddy, your're not supposed to wave your hands like that", she said while kicking him in the shins. The son talked back to the father. He was out of control. He also backed down from all the bravado about what he was going to do to Al and shook his hand.
That took most of Thursday, although I still managed to observe two classes. I have to get nine more observations in by November first. On Friday, I had a sub secretary whose commonality with me was that she sold real estate at the biggest singles apartments in Dallas Texas and told me the singles scene there was really hopping. I could only imagine.
I was completing my second observation, when Al suggested a fire drill, which I agreed with. We set it for 2:30. Just before the drill, the big, beefy special ed. teacher that wears his hair in a pony tail and lifts weights and who has befriended me tipped me off to a situation. Apparently, a little sixth grade boy poked three girls in the boobs during gym class. I had to go the the female teacher to tell her to file a report so we could act on it. She thought there was nothing to be done because she had the same thing done to her with a special ed. boy when she was just starting to teache and the principal said she couldn't do anything because of his classification. I straightened her out on that point.
We finally had the drill, but coming back I was talking to the tech teacher, former CIA agent, Tony and the class got ahead of us. Suddenly, a girl from the class came back towards us and said that a girl had fallen badly in his class. We ran to find the girl sprawled on the floor nursing her right forearm. We called the nurse who brought a wheel chair and an ice pack. We got the girl out of the room to find later that she did, in fact, sustain a fracture. Fortunately, she is left handed.
Then Al calls me on the intercom during bus duty and asked if anyone came out the front door. I said yes and he told me one of the new substitutes had her car keyed from front to back. There were students near that car and they were from the new choral teacher's class. This was not good. We won't see that sub again except in court.
By the time the day was over and I got tired of checking teacher's plan books, I packed to go. As I walked out of the office I heard the phone ring. I just kept going.
