Cherry Hill
The interview was on a Friday afternoon. It was the last one of their first round interviews. Cherry Hill School District is large and as far away from Flemington as Saddle Brook is, only it is south of me. I took the day off, much to the disgust of my Vice Principal. I studied current trends on the Internet to learn the most recent lingo, then headed out
It wasn't a bad trip, but it was long, of course. I got there early and waited in the hallway. People were bustling about. The secretary came by to say hi. Finally I was escorted into the room where there were twelve to fifteen people interviewing me. Each had one question. I told them I would be as succint as possible seeing that it was a Friday afternoon. The interview started late and lasted only 35 minutes. I thought it went well. I was able to answer the questions well. The school to get the new principal has 1000 students. I didn't flinch but I was nervous.
When I went to leave I told them I would have given each person a Werther's but there were too many of them. I left and was in the process of filling up my car with gas when the secretary called me on my cell phone! She told me she called home and got my number from Donna. I told her that was very resourceful. She invited me back for the second round. I could't believe it. The school I had almost not gone to and I was practicing on wanted me back!
I called Donna right away and shared my joy in breaking the "first round only" barrier.
