Interim Principal

I got off the plane and waited for Donna. After the difficult time it took to get to the airport in Albuquerque and the rush to get home for my interview, the plane came early when Donna was still only half way to Philladelphia. She was tired and so was I. She had the one contact in and couldn't see very well, as did I.

We made it home at last and I had just enough time to collect myself and set out clothes for the interview. In the morning, I got up early and researched Branchburg. I had interviewed earlier this year or last, I can't remember which, at the same place. This time, however, it was for an Interim Middle School Principal position.

The only interviewer was the Superintendent, Dr. John Hrevnack. He didn't have a lot of questions and he wanted to interview me the day before, so I guess he had already seen the other two candidates.

I was taken on a tour of the facility and it was quite clean and modern. He told me that he needed someone to as a consultant for September and an Interim for two to three months after that. I was hopeful, but have been turned down so many times, I just don't get my hopes up anymore; I just pray that God will place me where He wants me.

While working in the back yard on September 3rd, I got a call on my cell phone from Dr. Hrevnack. He asked me whether or not I still wanted the Interim position. I enthusiasticly said "yes" and he told me to report to the school on Tuesday, September 7th to negotiate salary and other details!

I told Donna and she was in shock. She had received bad news for so long that she didn't know how to handle this information. I emailed my friends and tried to consider what this meant. I told Donna that we needed to keep to our strict budget and put money in the bank as much as we could, then pay off debt before anything else happens.

God gave me a position in addition to my pension and within driving distance of home where I could use my Miata for the commute. It could be a three or four month committment. He is to be praised.
