Another day at School
It was cold. I walked out for bus duty after a team leader's meeting. The cold smacked me in the face as did the bright sun reflecting off the snow piled up around the parking lot. I counted the busses and let the kids in. Soon afterwards a boy I sat next to while observing a teacher confided in me that an 8th grade boy found a dead, frozen mouse and brought it to school to try to revive it. He gave it to a girl to put in her locker. I took the tip and gave it to my assistant principal. Then the day began. I observed a class, talked to my guidance counselors, met with my assistant principal and met with the director of special services over an incident with a special needs student tha threatened another child. While this was happenning, my secretary developed a separate course for Health, much to my surprise.
I tried to get some tea in the course of the day and did not eat until 2:30. The superintendent was prowling, finding fault in things we had done. I knew by this time that I was not a contender for a permanant positiong at Branchburg.
